Sunday News from The Citizen: Tears, Raised Eyebrows, Shocked Anger and a Couple of Laughs

Tears: Comments from family members of the 8 killed in a Bathurst, NB car crash on ice roads got the tears rolling. It hurt to think of their loss when it could just as easily be mine any day of the week.

Raised Eyebrows: The insinuation that speaking about your faith is synonomous with "shoving any part of it down anyone else's throat" rather irritates me as an evangelical Christian. (Probably most of all because I too have experienced the hostile end of that argument in my pre-Christian days. However, I try to avoid this type of evangelism and prefer to share my faith through my own experience and when the appropriate situation presents itself). Many understandable and well-justified points were made in the rest of this article however: http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/columnists/story.html?id=f91b0e16-7ac9-42c0-af35-ed3c44c6e6cb A few futher points also provoked my "raised eyebrows," but I'll let you judge for yourself.

Shocked Anger: The Ottawa Senators' organization has sunk to a new low. No, I am shocked because I did not think this was possible. If I had wanted to buy Leafs tickets (it is sadly not in the budget), I would have had to also buy tickets to a Buffalo or Florida game. WHAT?!?! I wish I were kidding about that one. They celebrated it as a way to keep away rival fans. How special of them. A few other words come to mind: inconsiderate, selfish, greedy.

A Couple of Laughs: I wish I could tell the story as well as Kelly Egan, but I can't. I appreciate and echo the sarcastic indignation with which he speaks of tailgaters in his column this week:
